Photography

This is how it all began, liquidmocean that is in the current form. I've owned the domain for quite a number of years in which time its been a photo archive, an underwater stock library and a website I shared with a good buddy of mine, another photographer type, again related to the Oceans but more as a generic wildlife genre deal.

In late 2009 I started having ideas that this could actually become a label. What a great name, liquidmocean? One that enhances both the marine realm and the effect of our sporting actions on it, the motion (mocean) we enjoy by catching waves, catching wind and riding it's surface or simply the motion we feel when swimming in it. So it was from this that the label idea was born. I started hitting the water after looking for a hobby to keep me in shape after moving to Bali and with me being a waterman at heart it all just kinda clicked. Being out there almost daily resulted in many a request for imagery from the surfers I was snapping. I never really thought of that aspect of the company from a commercial angle but it has grown slowly into a 'nice little earner' as we used to say in the UK, and probably still do.

After snapping away for a few months the idea just clicked, "Well if these people want images of themselves why not look at dressing them too?" This leads us to where we are today, snapping people, trying to dress them too whilst at the same time hoping to share the whole adventure with Ocean sports lovers.

The daily imagery side of things, when I can get out, is always shared to the facebook albums area mostly labeled with the date of the shoot. This way if people do request imagery they just have to go to the page, find the corresponding album to the day we bumped into each other and then locate any images they would like to have emailed to them. All pretty straight forward. I also set that up with PayPal so everything can run automatically and pretty fast depending on the time zone of the people contacting me.

I can be booked for private commissions by visiting surfers whether you're heading to the breaks in Bali or bustin' out on a liveaboard within Indonesia. A dedicated photographer to document your trip where each member of the crew gets a copy of the resulting imagery. Whatever your requirements just gimme a holler and we'll hatch a plan.

Hopefully we'll meet someday on the breaks of Bali, just look for a crusty old Yellow colored Gath Helmet and I'll probably be hanging out underneath that.

Cheers,
Mark.

This is a posting from the ramblings of a waterlogged mind that is the liquidmocean Blog. Reflections from setting up and running a small brand business, dealing with professional and personal life in Indonesia mixed with the added adrenalin of surf photography. Feel free to leave comments, much appreciate the feedback. Cheers, Mark.
